Yesenia Florez is a Colombian singer-songwriter based in Canada whose musical vision moves between tradition and experimentation. Inspired by Latin American folklore and the sounds she grew up with in her homeland, she weaves influences of ballad, bolero, alternative rock, and Latin fusion, with the guitar as the central axis of her work.
From a very young age, she was surrounded by musical influences from her maternal grandfather and older brother, which sparked a deep passion for art and music in her. Her music evokes the nostalgia of the old, while projecting itself into a contemporary language where emotion and poetry become cultural bridges.
Throughout her career, she has performed on significant stages such as the National Museum of Bogotá, the Luis A. Calvo Auditorium in Bucaramanga, Guilt & Co, the York Theatre, and the Vancouver Mural Festival, as well as in artistic spaces that celebrate diversity such as Sofar and Vanmates Sounds.
Most recently, she was featured in the
independent documentary NEPANTLA – In
Between.
Through her art, Yesenia seeks to weave a thread
between memory, identity, and contemporary
sensitivity, offering her audience an intimate,
powerful, and deeply human experience.
